Offer a subscription to customers who bought before

Customers who already bought a product once are the likeliest to subscribe to it. The Previous purchase banner reminds them on the product page: a logged-in customer who bought the product as a one-time purchase sees You've previously purchased this product. Want to subscribe and save 10%? right next to your purchase options.

Turn it on

  1. In the Zubs app, go to Settings → Subscription Features.
  2. Make sure Turn Orders into Subscriptions is on. It's on by default, and the same setting controls the offer on the order pages of your customers' accounts.
  3. Save.

Add it to your theme

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Open the Product template, choose Add block, and pick Previous purchase banner.
  3. Move it where you want it — next to the purchase options works best.
  4. Save.

In the theme editor the banner always shows a preview, so you can place and style it. If the offer isn't active for your shop yet, the editor shows a short note instead of the preview, and nothing appears on your storefront.

What customers see

  • The saving: the banner names the discount of the product's subscription plans. If the plans save different amounts it says save up to the highest one; if no plan has a percentage discount it just asks Want to subscribe?
  • Only plans sold in the customer's market count towards the saving.
  • Text only: the banner doesn't change the purchase option for the customer; they pick the subscription themselves.

When the banner doesn't appear

  • The customer isn't logged in. The banner needs to know who they are.
  • They never bought the product as a one-time purchase. Purchases count from the day the offer was activated for your shop; earlier orders don't.
  • They already subscribe to the product, on an active or paused subscription.
  • The product has no subscription plan for the customer's market.
  • Turn Orders into Subscriptions is off, or your billing approval is still pending.
